SINGERSJO HARROP
Inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, Tony Bennett, and Betty Carter, Jo Harrop is a young jazz singer with a captivating, rich, chocolate voice. Not professionally trained but passionate about singing, Jo's favourite place is on stage, singing classic Jazz standards with ease. No stranger to performing live, Jo can entertain an audience with her fine selection of songs and her unique interpretation of them. Over the past few years in London, Jo has appeared at Londons' Jazz cafe, supporting, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and her live recording was then featured on Courtney Pines' Radio two, 'Jazz Crusade' in June of 2007. Acoustic Alchemy featured a song of Jo’s on their 14th album, ‘Radio Contact’ in 2004. Recent gigs include the 606 club, Pizza On The Park, The Gardenia Club, Hammersmith and Café In The Crypt, St. Martins In The Fields. She has secured residencies at some of Londons' most popular music venues, such as The Bedford in Balham, and has won audiences at some of its' most intimate clubs such as Momo's, The Grill Room, Ginglik, and The Troubadour. Close up and personal is the best way to appreciate Jo's voice, but as sure as she can draw you right in to an emotional ballad, she can swing those up-tempo numbers too. She loves to sing and it shows! Listen:
