Sam Burkey

Sam is a singer/songwriter from Beckenham, Kent.

While not composing he is also a highly-acclaimed piano/vocalist who plays in well – established restaurants and bars throughout London and the South East. Regular gigs include Quaglino’s, Just St. James, About Thyme (Pimlico) and Pizza Express, where he performs a wide variety of material from Jazz Standards to Billy Joel and Elton John.

He also regularly performs at private functions and has acquired quite a 'following', not only for his unique interpretation of other people's works but for his own compositions as well.

His performance credits include several Principal Roles as a Boy Treble with distinguished companies such as English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, De Nederlandse Opera and Glyndebourne. Highlights of this period include performing under the direction of Pierre Boulez, performing for Diana, Princess of Wales and recording a duet with Lesley Garrett for her album. Other major performances include:

  • Lead Role of Bobby in EU Footlights' production of Crazy For You (2001)
  • Role of Clifford in Award-winning production of Cabaret at Edinburgh Festival, 2001
  • Role of Will in Edinburgh Music Theatre's production of Oklahoma at the King's Theatre, Edinburgh, 2003
  • Played Male Lead in a new production of Tomorrow Morning by Lawrence Mark Wythe at the Bridewell Theatre, London (2004)
  • Performed as Piano-Vocalist on Cruise Ships for 9 months
  • Written and recorded debut album All My Days, 2003
  • Continues to sing live gigs with various groups around the UK
