Rui Cesar was born in Angola to musical parents and began performing as a teenager.

His professional career began in Portugal, where he appeared at several leading casinos and hotels, and on television, as well recording albums with Raul Indipwo and Rui Veloso.

Rui was the musical director and pianist with the Afro jazz/Rock band "Madizeza" for their year-long world tour, performing in Brazil, Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Cape Verde and Mozambique. He was also the resident entertainer at hotels in Dubai and Angola before settling in London, where he has performed at The Savoy, The Landmark, Smollensky's, The Waldorf Meridian and Quaglino's, as well on a number of international cruises.
