SINGER-PIANISTS

KIM VAN DYK

Kim Van Dyk

Kim was classically educated on the piano at a young age but switched to percussion. He played guitar and sang lead vocal as the front man of his first band for seven years. Then he changed again to piano as his favourite. Kim Van Dyk has been on national television in Holland performing John Hiatts "Have little faith in me" which was broadcast to approximately two million people. During the late nineties he played drums in a rock band for three more years before he finally became a professional piano-entertainer.

Moving through Europe, working in piano bars, clubs and hotels, building experience, not only in musical terms but in entertainment as well. His first tour started in Switzerland and then went on to Germany, Norway, Denmark, England and finally back to Holland where he played for more than two years in Crazy Pianos, one of the hottest Rock & Roll - duelling piano clubs in the world. During his stay in the Netherlands he bought himself a trumpet and took some lessons after listening to Chet Baker and Herb Alpert.

Kim has taken a large interest in numerous music-styles. Raised with Bach and Beethoven when he was little, moving through the music of the seventies and eighties, becoming aware of Rock, Metal and pop. Digging into Pop music-history to meet with it's roots: Blues, Rock & Roll and further beyond, Jazz. Right now Kim is fond of Latin-styles.

Kim Van Dyk is registered as a Composer/Songwriter at the Dutch Author's Organization and he has recorded several CDs.
