KAREN NEWBY

Karen began playing the piano at the age of 4, and was working as a cocktail pianist 10 years later. She studied piano and violin at Trinity College of Music in London, graduating with a 2/1 honours degree.

Her playing career has seen her in many different roles - as keyboard/vocalist with various bands, working with international cabaret artistes; MD for production companies; cocktail pianist/singer; classical recitals; teaching piano and violin to adults and children; pianist for ballet classes and choirs; songwriter; arranger - if it's musical, she's probably been involved!

In the course of her musical career, Karen has worked in many different countries and venues. She spent 5 years based in Germany, playing in 5-star hotels around the country (and yes, she does speak German) and on cruise ships, including the Deutschland, Berlin and Astor. Most recently, she was resident pianist at the Intercontinental Hotel on Park Lane in London for 3 years and was on board the 'Black Watch' for Fred Olsen for 7 months.
