PIANISTS
ILID ANNE
Iid Anne was born and bred in the Nantlle Vale in Caernarfonshire,
the heart of the Welsh slate industry, in a golden era for music and tradition.
Her childhood home was full of culture, full of music, religion and education,
her father being a headmaster and her mother a teacher. Her mother was
also a talented singer.
From a very early age, musical influence has dominated
her whole life, provding her with a solid creative platform, sound teaching
and wise advice and although she was accepted by an International Agency
to be a model, her musical nature prevailed and the pull towards a career
in this field proved stronger. She was awarded a scholarship to study
the piano at the Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Organists,
London.
As the mother of two girls, her work has been predominantly
within Wales and the UK, with short international tours as a pianist,
accompanist and musical director. Another aspect of her experience is
to be found in her extensive work for radio, television and, of course,
concerts as a music researcher, composer and arranger. Her versatility
has led to work across the board, from playing in rock bands to accompanying
classical choirs, jazz and folk, for over twenty years. She has worked
with some of the world's leading singers and conductors, and is currently
the MD for one of Wales' top male voice choirs.
Now her daughters have grown up and become independent,
and of course musical, Ilid is able to pursue her personal dreams. She
has an eminently attainable ambition to tour around the world as a solo
artist, her unique talent supported by a band or orchestra. To play a
wide variety of music from JS Bach to Gershwin, Frank Sinatra to Elton
John and from Abba and Elvis Presley through to Robbie Williames, while
still keeping a firm grip on the traditional hymns and folk melodies.
Very few women worldwide provide this type and quality of entertainment
and she will undoubtedly be, as she has been, warmly welcomed by audiences
all over the world.
Ilid has been proven to have both the intelligence to
cope with the demands, and the temperament to deal with the pressures
of being a conductor and musical director, having had vast experience
of leading bands, choirs and orchestras. On top of that, she possesses
a warm and outgoing nature, and a love of meeting new and interesting
people which allows her to bring the best out of any group, and flourish
within new situations and challenges.
