About Nils...

Nils Klöfver is a prize-winning Swedish guitarist based in London. Active as a concerto soloist, solo recitalist and in various ensembles, he is enjoying a busy freelance career with engagements in recording studios as well as in concert halls.

Particularly keen on chamber music he performs regularly in different duos with flute, violin, voice or a second guitar. Collaborating with violinist Björn Kleiman has resulted in extending the repertoire for the two instruments through arrangements and commissions and the duo also recorded the critically acclaimed album Variety Lights. Nils has given recitals with star sopranos like Ida Falk Winland and Susanna Andersson, fruitful collaborations for which he also arranged and transcribed many works for the instrument. His last project involves music for guitar and string ensemble - an exciting format allowing concertos to be performed in smaller settings.

Nils graduated from the Bachelor of Music (Hons) course at the Royal College of Music in 2006 with a first class degree. In the same year he also won first prize in the yearly Royal College of Music Guitar Competition, made his debut at the Wigmore Hall and appeared as a finalist in the distinguished Jörgen Rörby competition in Sweden.

As well as performing on the standard classical guitar Nils also gives recitals on the alto guitar - an eleven-string instrument merging together the best qualities from the renaissance lute with the modern guitar.

Nils has performed frequently with appearances in concert series, music festivals and in outreach work programmes in schools and hospitals. In London he has appeared in The Wigmore Hall, St. John Smith Square, The Houses of Parliament, Downing Street etc. and he frequently returns to Sweden, Spain, France and Germany for concerts. He's played in Yokohama and Nagoya in Japan and in 2011 he made his debut solo recital in the USA.
