About Maciej...

Polish pianist Maciej Kassak was born in Gdansk into a family of renowned musicians.

He began playing music at the age of seven with cello being his first instrument. Following the footsteps of his mother he took on violin when he was nine, and at the age of 11, trumpet became his major instrument.

He started learning piano under the guidance of well-known Polish pianists, Katarzyna Popowa Zydron, Waldemar Wojtal and Wlodzimierz Wiesztordt.

As a student at the Gdynia Conservatorium of Music he was awarded the prestigious "Minister of Culture and Arts" scholarship - twice in consecutive years. He has performed at many important musical events and festivals including "Mlode Talenty Gdanska" & "Bydgoskie Impresje Muzyczne" in Poland, "Bordeaux Fete le Vin" and "St Emillion Music Festival" France, "Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival" Germany and "Tilburg and The Hague Young Musicians Festival" Holland.

In 2002 Maciej graduated with first class honours in piano performance from the Conservatory of Music in Gdynia, having studied in professor Bogdan Kulakowski class.

In 2010 to commemorate bicentenary of Fryderyk Chopin's birth he was invited by the Polish Society in Texas, USA to give three recitals of Chopin's major works.

Since late 2010 Maciej has been performing regularly on luxury cruise liners around the world for Fred Olsen and Carnival UK Group respectively.

In 2011 Maciej started an exciting collaboration with well established young British clarinettist James Meldrum. Together this vibrant classical duo offers a repertoire of the core clarinet and piano chamber music.
