About Kate Duo...
The Band
All members of the band are highly acclaimed musicians and have years of performing experience. Trained at both the prestigious Tech Music Schools and the Guildhall School of Music in London, they have performed in the UK as well as internationally, playing at some of the most prestigious venues and music festivals in South Africa, New York, Greece, Italy, Texas, Slovenia and France. They have also played for many high profile clients at Parties, Weddings, Jazz clubs and corporate functions. Their love of jazz music makes them passionate about the band and together they form a reliable, professional team who know how to entertain and tailor their music to suit the crowd.
Kate
Kate began performing from a young age. When she left school, she fronted a number of function bands and built a name for herself in South Africa touring with one of the best bands on circuit and regular session work, mainly recording dance music tracks for Select Music Record Company. Together with Barbara Linsey, she formed the duo Insomnia, which was interviewed on radio and received airplay in South Africa.
After moving to the UK she collaborated with dance music producers 'the Ninja Cowboys' on their house music projects which she performed as a guest in Manchester and London. She also fronted a number of London based function bands. After studying a One year diploma in Popular music performance at Tech Music Schools in London, she went on to study a BMus (hons) degree in Popular Music performance majoring in Jazz. Kate is taught by some highly acclaimed teachers including well known Jazz and Swing singer Iain Mackenzie, Kim Chandler (Nina Simone, Westlive, MTV, TOTP), Yak Bondy (Amy Studt, Emma Bunton, Rachel Stevens), David Coombes (Beyoncé, Will Young, Ronan Keating) and Katie Saunders (Sugababes).
