Having started to play classical piano aged five, Johny went on to gain BA (Hons) Jazz Studies from Leeds College of Music in 2002. In 2003 Johny moved to Boston, Massachussetts, where he excelled in his Jazz Diploma from Berklee College of Music. In addition to his professional qualifications, Johny has proven industry experience as a soloist and ensemble musician over the past 14years.

About Johny...

Having started to play classical piano aged five, Johny went on to gain BA (Hons) Jazz Studies from Leeds College of Music in 2002. In 2003 Johny moved to Boston, Massachussetts, where he excelled in his Jazz Diploma from Berklee College of Music. In addition to his professional qualifications, Johny has proven industry experience as a soloist and ensemble musician over the past 14years.

Johny's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing blues, Latin and popular music, however his passion lies in jazz. His strengths include his own arrangements of the music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone and Sinatra. In addition Johny is skilled in playing in the cool and peaceful style of Bill Evans. Johny also specialises in performing his own interpretations of popular classics by Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, Van Morrison and John Legend. Johny is always mindful of his audience when selecting his choice of music and enjoys performing requests.

Johny is a diverse and flexible performer whose experience includes corporate, functional and residential work. In 2005 Johny was the Chart Room band leader onboard the luxury cruise liner QM2 with his Jazz trio. His work in London includes playing at venues such as Simpsons on The Strand, The Waldorf Hotel, the Royal Lancaster Hotel and Browns Brasserie, as well as high level Jazz 'jam sessions' at venues such as Charlie Wrights on Old Street and the Spice of Life, Leicester Square. Prior to his move to London Johny had residencies in a number of prestigious Lake Distict hotels as well as work in Leeds in the Hi Fi and the Wardrobe jazz clubs. He continues to enjoy arranging wedding function bands in the north of England.

Based in South West London, Johny welcomes the opportunity to arrange jazz piano, trio and larger ensembles for your function, whether for the private, more intimate event or for larger functions and celebrations.
