Fresh from his triumph as 'Captain Jack' in the recent hit 'Doctor Who' series!

Born in Glasgow, where he spent his early years, John moved with his family to the States and later studied Musical Theatre at the US International University in San Diego, California. John made his cabaret debut in 2002 to great critical acclaim in Chicago’s Park West and Empire Room, at Arci’s Place and the Lincoln centre both in New York and on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy centre, Washington DC.

John starred recently at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in ANYTHING GOES, directed by Trevor Nunn and also played as Dumaine in LOVE'S LABOURS LOST at the Royal National Theatre. Previous to this he starred as Bobby in Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY at the Kennedy centre in Washington DC as part of their 2002 Sondheim Celebration.

John has recently shot the movie METHOD, starring with Liz Hurley, and JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS, with Kevin Kline and directed by Irwin Winkler. He has also recently recorded a TV concert with the Boston Pops Orchestra.

He was most recently seen on television as Peter Williams in the Aaron Spelling series TITANS for NBC, and he also guest starred in Aaron Spelling’s STOP AT NOTHING. He also starred in Darren Star’s CENTRAL PARK WEST for CBS, as well as the PBS all-star special, HEY MR PRODUCER. He will soon be seen on the big screen in the independent feature, MEGALODON. John was a regular presenter on Live and Kicking (BBC). He then presented Electric Circus (BBC). He hosted two series and two Christmas Specials of The Movie Game (BBC) and also presented 50s Company, a weekday magazine programme for Channel 5.

In addition, he has been heard in concert on the BBC in The Magic of the Musicals from Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, for National Music Day (with Betty Buckley) and a concert version of CALL ME MADAM with Tyne Daly. He has appeared in concert with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra. John has given numerous concert performances around the world including several Royal Command Performances.

John can be heard on original cast recordings of THE FIX for First Night records, as Danny Zuko in GREASE for TER, HAIR for EMI, and the all star cast album of GODSPELL. His solo albums include JOHN BARROWMAN: REFLECTIONS FROM BROADWAY, JOHN BARROWMAN: ASPECTS OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER and THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER.
