MARTEN STRING QUARTET

Heather, Emma, Emma and Katy first got together in 2002 whilst they were all students at the Royal Academy of Music in London. They have enjoyed great success both individually and as an ensemble working within both the classical and commercial fields. The girls have worked with orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Irish Baroque Orchestra.

The Orchid quartet have also worked with dozens of world famous pop legends including Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Brian May, Phil Collins and have also appeared along side young singers including Westlife, Will Young, Il Divo, Katie Melua and Michael Buble. They work regularly on television and radio and can often be seen on Top of the Pops and Parkinson.

Using stunningly original arrangements and an eclectic mix of styles, the Marten Quartet brings high class presentation and a unique charisma to the string repertoire. With a smooth distinctive sound and elegant sophistication they have an innate ability for capturing the exact mood and atmosphere of any occasion and can brilliantly pinpoint music to lift a crowd.

Their repertoire is extensive and ranges from large scale classical works through to 1920's jazz standards, pop covers and West End show tunes. It is rare that the quartet cannot match a style or request of clients. Placing heavy emphasis on presentation, they portray an image of sophistication, elegance and glamour and this had made the quartet a favourite with pop stars, film stars, charity and fashion show organisers.

The Marten Quartet have held several prestigious residencies including Harrods, Selfridges and most notably a three year post in the tea room of Claridges’ Hotel, where they built a substantial rapport with guests and were regularly asked to perform at additional events. During this time the quartet began to work for the Savoy group and continue to perform at the Ritz, Dorchester and Grosvenor hotels.
