JANET FAIRLIE
Janet Fairlie, born in Glasgow, was awarded a scholarship
to study at the Royal College of Music in London. She has won many singing
awards including 1st prize In the 1992 National Mozart Competition and
her wide concert and operatic experience includes tours of Switzerland,
the Czech Republic, New York and Russia as well a command performance
at the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Hall, London and Beethoven's 9th Symphony
in Beethovenhalle, Bonn, Germany. She has appeared at the Royal Opera
House, Covent Garden, understudied at English National Opera and Garsington
Opera and performed with Glyndebourne Festival Opera and The D'Oyly Carte
Opera Company. She has performed many of the popular lyric soprano roles
including MIMI (La Boheme), FIORDILIGI (Cosi Fan Tutti) NEDDA (Pagliacci),
COUNTESS (Marriage of Figaro), TATYANA (Eugene Onegin), LEILA (The Pearl
Fishers) and PAMINA (The Magic Flute).
Janet is equally at home on the operatic stage and the
concert platform and has performed extensively in oratorio and recital
in Great Britain and abroad. She recently began performing recitals and
Gala Evenings with pianist Linda Ang.
More unusual engagements have included performing for
Sir Elton John at a Charity Ball and singing on a Spanish mountain top
for Matthew Parris' (of The Times) 50th birthday!
