Barbara Karaskiewicz

Barbara Karaskiewicz was born in Krynica, Poland, and currently resides in United Kingdom. She studied the piano under the supervision of Professor Monika Sikorska-Wojtacha, achieving a diploma with distinction in 1999, from the Katowice Music University. During her postgraduate studies, she deepened her knowledge and mastery of piano playing, thanks to the distinguished Polish pianist Wojciech Switala.

Karaskiewicz has received many awards at Polish and international piano contest such as: 4th Szymanowski International Competition in Lodz (The Best Polish Participant); "Estrada Mlodych" (The Young Performers) at 29th festival of the Polish Pianistic in Slupsk and a Special Award for the best performance of K. Szymanowski's works; 27th and 28th competition for F.Chopin's Scholarship in Warsaw; 20th Century Music Competition in Warsaw; Mozart Competition in Gdansk. She gave piano recitals at the numerous renowned festivals e.g. "The Polish Pianistic Festival", "The Week of Talents", "K.Szymanowski's Music Days", "The Young Prize Winners' Music Festival", "TheYoung Musicians Festival", "The Lublin Music September", "Stars Promote", "Naleczow Divertimento".

She has given piano recitals at numerous renowned festivals, such as:. "The Polish Pianistic Festival", "The Week of Talents", "K.Szymanowski's Music Days", "The Young Prize Winners' Music Festival", "The Young Musicians Festival", "The Lublin Music September", "Stars Promote", "Naleczow Divertimento", "Leith Festival" in Edinburgh.

Karaskiewicz performs in many countries such as Poland, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Estonia, Mexico, Czech Republic, Moldavia, Macedonia, and - recently - Scotland. She has given many concerts in Polish philharmonic halls and in places which are famous for the Polish music such as: Zelazowa Wola - F.Chopin's place of birth, I.J.Paderewski's manor house, K.Szymanowski's house in Zakopane ( "Atma" Museum ).

Karaskiewicz's solo and chamber repertoire includes works ranging from baroque to modern classical. She takes special pleasure in performing the music of Polish composers, choosing works which have already been forgotten or are rarely performed. She has recorded Roman Statkowski's (1859-1922) piano complete works for Polish leading label "Acte Prealable" as World Premiere Recording
